This 100% women lead team designs and maintains gardens on the Peninsula. For thirty years, Debby Ruskin has designed gardens tailored to her clients’ taste and lifestyle. Her gardens are people centric, typically traditional in style, with an emphasis on regionally appropriate water-wise planting. Debby completed a certificate in Ornamental Horticulture from Foothill College in 1983 and in Landscape Architecture from UC Berkeley in 1992. She served on the national board of the Association of Professional Landscape Designers (APLD).

Debby's daughter, Amy Palmer, brought her background in business and high tech to Ruskin Gardens in 2002. While apprenticing as a designer, she witnessed consistent frustration of designers and clients about the poor quality of their gardening service. She launched the maintenance business in 2004. Amy is a licensed landscape contractor (875640), graduated with honors in Physics (B.S.) from UCLA, was a scholarship athlete playing goal keeper for UCLA Women's Soccer, and is fluent in Spanish.

Amy met Jennifer Simmons at a Bernard Trainor (ASLA) conference in 2011. Jenn’s talent and contagious passion for fine gardening was so compelling that a job was created for her on the spot. With Jenn in the leadership role as Sr. Garden Manager, we officially launched our Landscape Management service in 2014. She has a degree in Environmental Horticulture from Foothill College and a growing following (1600+) on twitter Garden Girl @GrdngirlL.
